Disclaimer and Our Offshore Position
Version of 18 September 2026. Dated, like everything else here. Nothing on this page is edited after the fact without the date moving with it.
Gambling is entertainment, not income
We are an offshore operator. There is no New Zealand licence behind us and the Department of Internal Affairs has no oversight of what we do. What the Gambling Act 2003 does say is that playing at an overseas casino is not an offence for you.
Every game on our floor is built so that the house keeps a margin over time. Individual sessions swing both ways and some of them end very well, but there is no strategy, no pattern and no system that turns a casino game into a source of income. Anyone selling you one is selling you something.
What this site is
Smokos Casino operates from outside New Zealand. We hold no New Zealand gambling licence and the Department of Internal Affairs neither licenses nor supervises us. Under the Gambling Act 2003 it remains lawful for a person in New Zealand to play at an overseas casino.
This website is our own. It describes our own casino, and the figures on it come from our own terms and our own cashier rather than from a third party. The other side of that is the obvious one: it is written by an interested party, and you should check anything that matters to you inside your own account.
Accuracy
We review this site regularly and date the review. Offers, payout times, limits and payment methods do change, and the version inside your account at the moment you act is the one that governs. Where this site and the terms disagree, the terms win.
Availability
We do not promise the site or the lobby will be available without interruption. Maintenance happens, studios take games offline, and payment providers have outages of their own. Where a fault affects a game round, it is settled on the studio’s record of it.
The numbers on these pages
Return-to-player figures are long-run averages published by the studio that built the game, measured over millions of rounds. They describe the game, not your evening, and a single session can land anywhere either side of them. Payout times are typical times after verification rather than promises: a bank holiday at your end moves a bank transfer and nothing we do can move it back.
Where an example is used to explain a rule, the figures in it are worked examples chosen because they divide neatly. They are not an offer and not a forecast. The pictures are illustrations of the product rather than screenshots of a live session, so read a figure on a pictured screen as decoration and the figure in the cashier as the real one.
Other people's names and games
The games are made by independent studios and each title, logo and character in the lobby belongs to the studio that made it. We licence the right to run them; naming a studio here is a statement about what is in our lobby, not a claim to own anything of theirs or a suggestion that they endorse us.
Why nothing here links away
This site carries no outbound links at all. The helpline is printed as a number you can dial rather than a link you have to trust, and the law is named so you can look it up yourself. That is deliberate: a link on a gambling site is the easiest thing in the world to swap out later, and a number and a statute are not. Anything you reach from these pages is either another page of ours or the cashier.
Your own position
Whether it is lawful for you to gamble depends on where you are, not on where we are. It is your responsibility to know that. Nothing here is legal, financial or tax advice; if you need any of those, ask someone qualified to give it.
Age
You must be 18 or over. If gambling has stopped being fun, the Gambling Helpline New Zealand is free and available at any hour on 0800 654 655.
Where this document ends and advice begins
Nothing above is legal or financial advice. For a question about our own terms, [email protected] is the address; for anything else, ask someone qualified.
