Anti-Money Laundering Policy and Checks
Version of 20 September 2026. Dated at each revision. These controls change when the rules we work under change, and both of those are worth being able to date.
Why a casino has this policy
Gambling moves money quickly and anonymously if nobody is watching, which is precisely why the rules on money laundering apply to operators like us. This policy is what we do about it, and parts of it will occasionally be inconvenient for an honest player. We would rather explain them here than surprise you with them.
Knowing who you are
Every account is verified before its first withdrawal: photo identification, proof of address dated within three months, and the payment method used. Accounts that deposit heavily, or that show a pattern we are required to look at more closely, get enhanced checks including questions about where the money came from.
What we watch for
- Deposits followed by an immediate withdrawal with little or no play in between.
- Money arriving from a payment method not held in the account holder’s name.
- Several accounts sharing a device, an address or a card.
- Deposits broken into small pieces to stay under a threshold.
- A refusal or inability to explain the source of a large deposit.
What we will do
- Ask for documents, and hold a withdrawal until we have them.
- Refuse a deposit, or return it to where it came from.
- Suspend or close an account.
- Report a suspicious transaction to the relevant financial intelligence authority. Where the law requires it, we are prohibited from telling you that we have done so.
Returning money to where it came from
Withdrawals go back to the method they arrived by, up to the amount that method deposited. This is not a preference of ours and cannot be waived on request; it is the single most effective control against using a casino to move money between unconnected accounts.
Third-party funding
Never deposit with someone else’s card, wallet or bank account, and never let someone else use yours. Both sides of that arrangement end with closed accounts, and the funds are returned to the account they actually came from rather than to whoever was playing.
Sanctions and politically exposed persons
Every new account is screened against international sanctions lists and against the lists of politically exposed persons, and the screening repeats in the background rather than once at registration. A sanctions match is not something we have discretion over: the account does not open, or it stops. A match on the politically exposed list is different — it means the account is accepted with closer monitoring and a senior sign-off, not that it is refused.
Watching an account over time
One deposit tells you very little. What the monitoring actually looks at is how an account behaves against itself: a player who has deposited NZ$20 at a time for a year and then sends four figures in an afternoon gets a question, and the question is asked before the withdrawal rather than after it. Most of these end in thirty seconds with a sensible answer, and the record of the answer is what stops the same question being asked again next month.
Cryptocurrency
Crypto deposits are traced to their origin before they are credited. Funds arriving through a mixer, from a wallet linked to a sanctioned address, or from an exchange that runs no identity checks of its own are refused and returned to the sending address where that is technically possible. A crypto withdrawal goes back to a wallet you have already deposited from, which is the same source-of-funds rule as everywhere else on this page.
Who runs this inside the company
A named compliance officer owns this policy, reports independently of the commercial side, and has the authority to freeze an account without asking anyone. Everyone on support and in the cashier is trained on it when they join and again each year, because the person who notices something first is almost always the one answering the chat.
If your account is frozen
A freeze stops play and withdrawal but never touches the balance — your money stays your money and is paid out the moment the matter closes. We will tell you what we need, and we will tell you how long we expect to take. The one thing we may not be able to tell you is why, because where a report has gone to a financial intelligence unit the law forbids us from saying so. It is an uncomfortable rule and we would rather you knew about it here than met it in a chat window.
Records
Identity documents and transaction records are kept for seven years after an account closes. The Privacy Policy explains what else we hold and for how long.
If a check has caught you by surprise
Write to [email protected] and we will say which part of this policy applies to your account and what closes it out.
